今回の戸野倉さんとアウスタさんによる展示は、3つの小さな物語がベースにあって、そこから2人で作り上げていきました。
それは、こんなお話です。
The Spinning Spider Queen
Once upon a time deep within a dark labyrinthine cave, there lived a Spider Queen.
Known far and wide for her incredibly beautiful web, the Spider Queen spent each and everyday spinning and spinning. This web was not only a stunningly exquisite dress but also served to lure in her unsuspecting prey, innocent young men.
She loved feasting upon the spirits of young men, devouring their essence.
As the luscious youth entered the Spider Queen’s inner chambers, they one by one succumbed to her wiles. Hopelessly entangled within this beautiful web, wrapped within the folds of the Spider Queen’s splendid dress, these young precious men sacrificed their lives.
And thus the Spider Queen spent her days happily spinning and feasting.
Yet there were times when the Spider Queen felt that she herself had become a victim of her own demise. The web she had spun held her tightly within its own intricate confines. The Spider Queen knew in her heart of hearts that she had created her own prison.
At times she wondered about the world beyond the confines of her entangled web.
And then one day ….
「蜘蛛の女王のドレス」
昔々、とある洞窟の奥深くに蜘蛛の女王様が住んでいました。女王様は編み物の名人で、毎日美しいドレスを編んで暮らしていました。そのドレスは美しいだけでなく、獲物を捕らえる蜘蛛の巣としても、たいへん優れていました。
彼女の好物は若い青年の精気でした。洞窟に迷い込んだ何人もの若者が、女王様のドレスの裾に絡めとられて、精気を吸われて息絶えていきました。女王様の生活は何一つ不自由はなく、満ち足りたものでした。
ただひとつだけ…、
彼女のドレスは蜘蛛の巣として洞窟の奥の空間に張り巡らせてあるので、まるで彼女自身が捕囚であるかのように、外出ができないことが不満でした。
外の世界はどんなかしら？
そんなある日…

The Shimmering Queen
The Queen of Light blessed life on earth. She loved all things of the Earth...people, animals, plants.
All creatures loved and worshiped the Queen.
The Queen shimmered in a dazzling dress. She was the sun.
The resplendence of her dress held everyone in breathless wonder. At the same time it's brilliance was blinding. Nothing but the shimmering light of the dress could be seen.
Yet, what a wondrous vision was this exquisite dress woven with dazzling threads of seven brilliant colors. Seven brilliant colors which created a magically transparent luminosity.
But the Queen, in her solitude, often wept secretly behind a curtain of clouds. She felt sad that no one could see the true beauty and brilliance which extended beyond her dress.
As she wept, the Queen’s tears fell to earth as light misty rain.
And people, as they looked up through the tear laden clouds, glimpsed the brilliance of the Queen's seven colored dress through the misty rain.
They called it a “rainbow”.
The Queen herself never found out what everyone was talking about. She never saw the rainbow.
「光の女王のドレス」
日の光の女王さまは、地上の人間、動物、植物、すべての生命を愛でていました。あらゆる生き物たちは女王さまを愛し、感謝し、崇拝していました。
けれども誰も彼女の姿を見ることはできません。何故なら彼女のドレスがまぶしくて目がくらんでしまうからです。
実は、女王さまのドレスは七色の糸で織られているのでした。
なんと不思議なことでしょう！
輝く七色は、目に見えない光に変わってしまうのです。
誰も見てくれない…。
彼女のドレスがどれほど美しく輝いているかを誰も知らないと思うと、時々、女王さまは悲しくなりました。
そんな時、彼女は雲の陰でこっそり涙を流すのでした。
女王さまの涙はこぼれ落ち、小雨となりました。
地上では人々が空を見上げ、女王さまの七色のドレスに見蕩れました。
人々はそれを“虹”と呼びました。
もちろん、女王さまはその事をちっとも知りません。
The Aquatic Princess
Once upon a time, a lovely exotic Fish Princess lived in an underground stream. This fresh water stream flowed from the depths of a magical cave. It is in this stream that each day the mischievous, lively, cheerful, chatty, adorable Princess frolicked about. So captivating was the Princess as she splashed and darted in and out, against and with the current of the waters. Stunningly dressed in her favorite red hued gown, the princess, herself, became an exquisite vision of beauty.
Dancing to her hearts delight! So wild and free! Without a care in the world! The Princess often tore and snagged her precious gown... much to the displeasure of the Fish Queen.
「地下水流に棲む魚の姫」
昔々、洞窟を流れる地下水流に、魚のお姫様が棲んでいました。
とてもお転婆で、いたずら好きで、おしゃべりで、愛らしいお姫様でした。
彼女は川の流れに沿って、あるいは遡って、時には水面から飛び跳ねて、自由気ままに泳ぎ回っていました。
お気に入りの真っ赤なドレスは、お姫様にとても良く似合っていました。
でも、あんまり元気良く遊び回るので、時々ドレスの裾に鉤裂きを作って、お母さんに怒られてしまうのでした。
